Polaris was responsible for the Data and Technical Support Services under the Power Africa Initiative Support Mechanism Activity a five-year USAID – US Agency for International Development project that will provide comprehensive support to the Power Africa Coordinator’s Office, including in the areas of Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL),Collaborating, Learning, and Adapting (CLA), and data services. Other activities included assisting with portfolio-level monitoring, impact and performance evaluations, and the design and implementation of a robust CLA plan to ensure continuous improvement and success across Power Africa’s transformative programs. Polaris also oversaw a portfolio of over 508 Power Projects across Sub-Saharan Africa, working closely with Development Partners, Implementing Partners, and Technical Advisors to track progress and ensure the success of electrification initiatives. These efforts aligned with Power Africa’s goal of expanding clean, reliable energy across the region. As the custodian of the Power Africa Tracking Tool including its Performance Management module, which houses all Power Africa indicators, Polaris ensured seamless system operations, managed enhancements, addressed bug fixes, and collaborated with stakeholders to maintain accurate and up-to-date data. However, due to the U.S. foreign aid freeze and the subsequent early termination of our contract, Polaris has been unable to continue these critical activities beyond the first year of the intended five-year period.
