The Power Africa Transactions and Reforms Program (PATRP) was a five-year contract to provide broad technical, logistical, and administrative support to implement and promote Power Africa. Our team designed and implemented a power transaction tracking tool that was used by Power Africa, a U.S. government-led partnership. PATT was a versatile management tool that assisted Power Africa and its main stakeholders to monitor progress toward the goal of 30,000 megawatts (MW) of electricity generation in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Using web-based and mobile platforms, PATT monitors a pipeline of over 750 power generation projects across Africa at every stage of development. The database was easily customizable and allowed for cross collaboration, had the capacity for a variety of analyses on key project information for decision making and reporting, and allowed for the identification of critical issues or constraints so that remedial action may be taken in a timely fashion where necessary. The database was used by almost 200 users in different continents and timezones.
